Location

  • Training sessions and classes take place at Birgit’s facility Falling Star Ranch in Dunster.
  • Upon request, Birgit will also travel to various locations in the Robson Valley as well as Jasper and Prince George.
  • Online training sessions via Zoom are also available.

Cost

  • Private sessions (in person or virtual): $75 or $280 for a package of 4 (valid for 4 months)
  • Obedience and Puppy Classes (5 sessions): $180.
  • Trick Training Classes (5 sessions): $200
  • Service Dog Training: Please inquire for more information and cost
  • Phone consultations: $75/hour
  • Mileage fee applies for travel away from Birgit’s home base in Dunster

Upcoming dog training classes

Puppies with potential! Puppy Level 1 Classes

Saturdays, September 19 and 26 and October 3, 10 and 17, 1.30-2.20 pm.

Designed for puppies 3–5 months of age at the start of the course, this class focuses on building confidence, developing social skills, and creating a strong foundation for future training. Through positive reinforcement, games, and age-appropriate learning activities, puppies and their handlers will develop important life skills while building a strong relationship.

  • For puppies between 3 and 5 months of age at the start of class.
  • Puppies need to be up to date on their puppy vaccination protocol (at least 2nd set of shots).
  • Maximum of 8 puppies per class.
  • Cost for five sessions: $180
  • Classes run once a week for 5 weeks

Obedience for dogs Level 1 Classes

Saturdays, September 19 and 26 and October 3, 10 and 17, 2.30-3.20 pm.

Build a stronger relationship with your dog while learning essential life skills in a fun, engaging, and supportive environment. Using positive reinforcement training methods, you and your dog will enjoy games and activities designed to develop focus, confidence, and reliable everyday obedience.

This class is suitable for dogs 9 months of age and older and is ideal for beginners or dogs needing a refresher on basic skills.

  • These classes are suitable for dogs age 9 months and up.
  • Dogs need to be up to date on their vaccinations (including Bordetella).
  • Maximum of 8 dogs per class.
  • Cost for five sessions: $180
  • Classes run once a week for 5 weeks

 

Introduction to Trick Training Classes

Saturdays, September 19 and 26 and October 3, 10 and 17, 3.30-4.20 pm.

Discover the fun of trick training while teaching your dog 25–30 exciting tricks! Trick training builds confidence, strengthens communication and the bond between you and your dog, and provides valuable mental enrichment for dogs of all ages.

This class follows the internationally recognized Do More With Your Dog! program and is suitable for dogs of all ages, breeds, and experience levels. Whether you’re looking to have fun, improve your dog’s focus, or work toward official trick dog titles, this class is the perfect place to start. Join us and unlock your dog’s potential—one trick at a time!

  • Dogs need to be up to date on their vaccinations (including Bordetella).
  • If you have a reactive dog, please contact Birgit to discuss.
  • Maximum of 8 dogs per class.
  • Cost for five sessions: $200
  • Classes run once a week for 5 weeks

REFUND POLICY

If you sign up for a class you agree that you are taking that spot. If you choose to cancel 3 days prior to the class start date we will provide a refund. If you want to drop the class after the start date a refund will not be available. We may be able to move you to a later class where space permits.
For private sessions, in-person and online, a 24-hour cancellation policy applies.

 

VACCINATIONS

Vaccines are required for your dog in order to participate. It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to have the appropriate vaccinations administered to your dog to protect your dog from any disease potentially transmitted in a boarding, training, working or socializing situation.

Please provide a copy of our dog’s vaccination records. This is easily obtained by contacting your vet and asking for an e-mail copy sent to either yourself or Birgit for our files.

 

WAIVER AND AGREEMENT

When taking classes/private sessions you will be required to sign a waiver. This will acknowledge your acceptance of the following:

I understand that participation in Caring K9 Institute’s/Pawsitive Dog Training’s group classes, private training sessions, seminars, events and other programs involves inherent risks. Although every reasonable effort is made to provide a safe and controlled environment, dogs are animals and their behaviour can be unpredictable.

By participating, I assume any and all risks associated with dog handling, dog movement, training activities, interactions with dogs and people, and participation at any training location. I agree to release and hold harmless Caring K9 Institute/Pawsitive Dog Training, its training locations, owners, employees, trainers and volunteers from any and all claims arising from my participation in Caring K9 Institute’s/Pawsitive Dog Training’s classes, including specifically, but without limitation, any injury, loss, or property damage resulting from the actions or behaviour of any dog, including my own.

I further agree to pay any veterinary or medical expenses incurred as a result of injury caused by my dog(s). I give Caring K9 Institute/Pawsitive Dog Training permission to seek veterinary care if necessary for my dog(s) at my expense, however, I will not hold Caring K9 Institute/Pawsitive Dog Training responsible if veterinary care cannot be obtained or is not sought.

By enrolling, I agree that Caring K9 Institute’s/Pawsitive Dog Training’s training methods, lesson plans, materials, videos, and class content are proprietary and for personal use only. Enrollment is non-transferable, and no other person, handler, or dog may attend in my place without prior approval. Training content and materials may not be copied, reproduced, shared, distributed, taught, or used for commercial or instructional purposes without written permission. Violation of these terms may result in termination of services without refund and, where applicable, further legal action.
